The Albemarle County Fire Rescue System consists of four rescue squad stations and eleven fire rescue stations staffed by a combination of volunteer and career personel. These stations provide emergency fire, rescue, and medical services for approximately 93,000 residents and 726 square miles of land, including urban and rural areas.
Calls to 911 are answered at the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) and dispatched to the nearest stations with appropriate equipment and personel. Data including the type of request, location, and dispatch times are made available by the ECC. The following visualizations use historical data from August 2011 through August 2015.
The size of each circle represents how many calls were made to a particular address, and the color represents the amount of time between a vehicle being dispatched and arriving on-scene.
